I have expectations from the normal contributors to take this year to evolve, learn and put their stamp on their work and possibly recieve a best character award for next years nominations. That includes you Moo.

As forum owner I would be extremely proud of them, because I would have watched them grow from the start to public releasing and being noticed.

I still haven't peaked as a creator yet imo.

well, I kindof won an award, seeing as how Viper Snake's screenpack was a revamp of mine.

..ah well.

I should probably make something MUGEN-related. I want to, but I dunno what.

I believe it's all about finding yourself as a creator. In my experience here's how it works.

You start off new to the 'game' with a willingness to learn, it starts off a little sketchy but you finally learn a few things via tutorials & trial and error. You constantly practice those particular things untill you become more familiar and comfortable in which you then move onto learning something else. Then with more experience growing you start to try new things out and brush up on what you have learned and improve the way you code. Finally you start to get a bit more comfortable in coding and with your ideas see no problem in implementing them...(while not being afraid to ask for a little help all through the learning process)

Then you start to find your own style as a creator and release things with your own stamp on it that people can familiarize (always wanting to constantly improve your work). I've learned over time how important fighting game mechanics are when it comes to creating... If people payed more attention to things like pausetimes,velocities,hittimes it would make a big difference, but sadly alot of people don't even know what these things are for :/ small mechanical and visual changes make a huge difference in the way the character "feels" which is important.

The problem is alot of people are put off by the amount of effort needed to release something decent and often rush work for a beta release or just don't have the patience to continue to finish it so their work stays in beta stage, or don't even get that far because they are simply put off by hard work.

I could go into more detail but that pretty much says it all.

let me add that it's also important to listen to other people's feedback on how to improve your creations, also try your hand at other types of creations as well (ex. if you've done only chars try your hand at stages) for a more vast knowledge, and above all have fun creating for mugen, because that's what it's all about
